Just for fun...

A sneak peak at tomorrows project.  It includes my favorite color and I can't wait to share.

Spring decorating can be just as fun

Usually Fall and Christmas decorating is my most favorite time of year but this year I really enjoyed creating special decor for the Spring.  I was searching on Pinterest for something pretty and Springy but not to commercial Easter.  I found these images as inspiration...

Which helped me to come up with these cute items around my living room.
Best thing about this project...its cost me $5.00!  I had all the apothecary jars in my living room already and the moss, birdies, and nest were from past weddings.  The only thing I had to buy were the eggs from Michaels

Items I used:
-regular green moss (can be bought at Michaels)
-Spanish moss (also can be bought at Michaels)
-Birds (I think they came from Save on Crafts)
-Nest (I think that came from Save on Crafts too)
-Pastel eggs from Micheals
-Manzanita branch piece (sand blasted)

Now, he's eating food!

Our little boy is growing up too FAST!  We tested out "solids" this past weekend and while he isn't 100% about it, he is getting more and more into it each time.  We decided to start with bananas as his first real food, not quite sure if he was as into the taste as I thought he would be.  I assumed something like bananas would be an easy start, maybe he just wasn't sure about the feeling in his mouth and the fact that he needed to swallow it.  Since then we have tried carrots and peas which he seems to really like.

I have a Baby Bullet so I plan on making most, if not all, of his puree food for a while and then we will transition him to just eating what we eat cut up into tiny bites.  He is breastfeed right now and I will continue that until at least 12 months, so for now I am just giving him one small portion of the baby food once a day.
And just because bath time was so cute that night, here is an adorable bath time shot.

A NEW Bed!

In true form, instead of finishing my bedroom, I have decided to change my plans yet again.  When my Tata passed away last month my mom and her siblings decided to change out my grandmothers bed from her 4 post bed to a shorter bed frame since she is not so steady on her feet anymore.  They were going to donate the old bed that my grandparents had for (I assume) their whole married life.  I told my mom I wanted it and a few days later my dad dropped it by my house.

It is currently a dark brown that will not go in my room and that does not show off its true character and details.  I am thinking of painting it either a light gray or maybe a creamy white.  I was in the garage re-organizing the other day and decided to snap a few shots of it to share.  Please ignore all the saw dust, these were taken after we finished the footboard.

I love the round balls on the top of the posts and the rungs along the foot board.  I really need help on the color though....gray or creamy white???

Really looking forward to this project soon and I hope to always have this bed in our family.  I have many fond memories of hanging out on it, playing with my cousin and sister on it, and taking naps in this bed.  I am honored to have it.

Sitting Up

We got back from Texas this last Tuesday and look what our little man can do...
He is still a little wobbly and a sudden movement on his part causes him to either face plant or throw his head back but for the most part he is doing really well and seems to be so happy sitting.  Oh and did you notice a certain pug named Maddy that insisted on getting her picture taken too.

My SWEET Valentines card

When I went to take Jeremiah his lunch at the office yesterday I was greeted with this adorable card from Jeremiah and Eli...love!
It is completely adorable and so thoughtful.  It is better than any ridiculously expensive card from the store any day.  Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day!

Another Great Man Gone

Just a few days ago, exactly 1 month and 1 day after my grandfather passed, Jeremiah's grandfather and the namesake of Eli passed away as well.  Louie Raymond Woody aka Buster passed away in his home on February 10th 2012 surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Grandpa Woody was a wonderful funny talented and God Fearing man who was loved by so many and whom so many looked up to.  As I have shared before, Jeremiah credits the majority of his strong faith to his Grandfather and I know that although he is not showing much of it, he is having a hard time with the loss of his grandfather.

We will be traveling back to Texas later this week to be with family and to lay him to rest.

Grandpa Woody was a great singer and in his younger years he was in a Texas Swing band where he wrote and recorded this song for his wife of 70 years...

I will always remember him for his love of God and music and I hope that my son, Eli Buster, lives up to such a great name.

Family Photo Fun

Last month we had one of my favorite photographers (Andy King) who also happens to be our wedding photographer take our family photos.  We went up to his studio in Alpine and played around outside with the baby for a while before going back inside to take some studio shots of Eli at 4 months.  Here are some of my favorites.

I know that every mother thinks this but, isn't he just the cutest thing you have ever seen? He makes my heard melt everyday.

Spring Wreath Tutorial

While Eli took a nap a few days ago and while Jeremiah was home, I snuck in a craft project.  I wanted to make a spring wreath and I had some stuff laying around (well mostly flower stuff in my flower studio) so I turned this lovely one out.

Here is what I started with:
-round foam wreath form
-ribbon of various colors
-glue gun and glue sticks
-scraps of material
-felt
-bag of left over moss
-buttons
-craft bird and mini nest

Step1:
I wrapped the wreath with a light green ribbon so that if the moss didn't cover the entire wreath solidly then the color behind it would blend in.
As I went along wrapping I added a squirt of glue about every 2-3 inches
Then I was left with this

Step2:
Next I started gluing the moss to the front of the wreath  and was left with this.

I decided that I was going to have to fill in the outside as well as the inside so I started gluing more.  The moss has its own shape so I just glued piece by piece and no order or fashion, just where it was needed.

Step3:
I glued the bird into the nest.
Step4:
I made 4 flowers.  The largest fabric flowers is a tutorial from Jones Design Company here as well as the rolled fabric flower here
The other/ribbon flowers are just simple flowers I played around with till I found something I like.  For the orange flower the you tube video here best describes it and for the blue flower I just made 2 loops and cinched the middles and then glued one on top of the other.

Step5:
Decide placement of all the fun items

Step6:
Hang on the door and admire.

Hope you enjoy and have fun making your own.  Anyone else have fun wreaths they have made lately?
