Kitchen update

I definitely still have such a long way to go but this is such an improvement already...

:(:(:(

I'm sad today because I want to be further along in the kitchen then I am, it's taking me longer than expected but I am still trekking along.  I don't have any update pictures but I am sad and overwhelmed.  Part of me is wondering why I started this and part of me is excited to finish.  Plus this kitchen is a whole lot dirtier than I ever imagined.  I don't think the kitchen floor has been cleaned around the stove in 30 years!  Keep me in mind as you go about your day and remember that "AT LEAST YOU ARE NOT REMODELING YOUR KITCHEN ON YOUR OWN!"

:)

P.S.  I bought the contact paper to line the inside of the cabinets

Kitchen Progress Report: 1

I have FINALLY removed all the drawers, doors, hinges, drawer pulls and knobs!  Plus I emptied all the cabinets so I am ready to TSP (clean) them and hopefully sand soon.  It only took me 2 days but I did it.  It's kinda sad and lonely when working alone, plus it takes forever!  I would say that the lovely husband and brother-in-law are going to help me this weekend since they don't have to work but that's not the case.  In fact I won't even be working on the kitchen, we are to busy and we won't have time :(.  On Saturday I have a wedding consultation appointment, I have to make 4 bouquets and a 30th birthday to go to.  Then on Sunday is our 1 year anniversary and I have a photo shoot that my flowers (the 4 bouquets) are being featured in so I won't be able to work on this disaster of a kitchen.

However, Monday morning I will be up and ready to get this done!  Well maybe not done but continued.  If you look closely, you will see that I took the backsplash/paneling off the wall and tore out one of the countertops.  Not exactly sure of everything that I am doing but I am having fun learning and self teaching along the way :).

You never really realize how much grim from the previous owner is on the cabinets until you start taking them apart, let me just say that there is years of nasty grim, grease, dirt, who knows what on these things and I was thoroughly grossed out today.

On a happier note, my new hardware arrived today and I can't wait to actually get to use it.

Lastly, what do you guys think about my wall papering the inside of the cabinets for a little fun and funky punch of interest when you open the cabinets?

Kitchen Maveover

It is my goal for this week and next week to actually redo my kitchen and give it a face lift.  My list of things to do is...
  1. add trim to the cabinets to give them a "shaker" look
  2. sand and paint the cabinets a nice creamy white
  3. change out the hardware
  4. replace the flooring
  5. add a subway tile backsplash
  6. replace the counter tops with butcher block counters
  7. paint the kitchen walls a "TBD" color
  8. hang my new stainless steel microwave oven/stove hood above the stove
The list seems long but I know I can do it in a week and a half!

Here are some inspiration pictures
And here is what my kitchen currently looks like :/
Ewwwww, we definitely need a makeover so stay tuned for picture updates :).
