Sally and the 3 desks

3 desks later (I never shared the other 2) I have the perfect desk/office area.  The 1st desk was one that I was going to refinish or paint but never got around to and then I decided that it was too small.  the 2nd desk was a beast!  It was a corner desk that was very solid and a very nice piece of furniture but it was just too big.  This new desk and shelving unit is just right.  It makes me feel at peace with my work space and that is very important when trying to run an at home business.  Here are the final "progress" pictures.  I still have some cubes to finalize and the top to decorate, but the majority of it is done.

Oh and just so you know what I was working with before...here are some shots of the old desk that was more of a catch all than a desk.  My wonderful husband and awesome brother-in-law had to haul it out and I believe that at one point they wanted to kill me, sorry boys ;).

Day 2 Progress

Today is my second day of working on my office area. Still lots to do and I can only work on it in between Eli naps and trying to get Exquisite Blooms work done. I am so excited to finish it soon.

New Project

I am in the middle of another new project.  Here is what the corner of our bedroom, otherwise known as my office looks like right now.  Lots of fun coming my way with fun ways to organize each and everyone of those cubby holes...so excited!

Bed is done!

I got a chance to paint the bed I got from my grandparents last week and love the way it turned out.  My mom came over to see it and told me that if she had known it was going to be that cute, she would have kept it for herself :)...too late!

Here she is...

And just as a reminder, here is what she looked like before.

Now that the bed is in the room though, I am definitely going to forgo the idea of leaving the dressers the original color and I will be painting them white to match the gray blue bed a little better.  Also, I am not loving the color of my walls now but I will have to live with them because the thought of painting that room again makes me nauseous.

I just love the bed, I love the details and the shape and the color.  Oh and as an added bonus, our bed is no longer on wheels so it doesn't roll all over the place making it hard to reach my phone or lamp, which I hated.  I LOVE it!

Project details:
1.  I lightly sanded the wood with a medium grit sanding block
2.  Wiped all the dust off
3.  Gave it 1 coat of Rust-Oleum’s Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2x gray primer
4.  Gave it 2 coats of Rust-Oleum’s Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2x in Winter Gray

Our little Leprechaun

It's always so fun to come home from a night away (last night was Book Club) and find fun pictures on my camera.  Here is the narrative behind Jeremiah and Eli's photo fun they had last night...

Being that it was March, Eli and Daddy decided to go hunting for some Leprechauns...

They got out the Lucky Charms (I was surprised to learn we had these in our pantry), found a stick, got a basket, and made a Leprechaun Trap.  Then they hid and waited.

Then wouldn't you know...out came a Leprechaun and he was caught!  Well kind of, apparently he didn't fit under the basket.
And what a cute Leprechaun he was.

Later he found a little outfit to put on since he was cold without and clothes on.

Apparently Daddy and Eli let him go, because there was no sign of him when I got home.

They crack me up :)

Overwhelmed

Ever feel overwhelmed as a Mother, Business Person, Wife, Housekeeper, Cook...Woman.  Today I feel overwhelmed!  There is Exquisite Blooms work, housework, DIY projects, shower planning, books to read, tax stuff to prepare, and most importantly a very precious baby to be taken care of.  Today I just feel tired and like it will never get done.  Maybe I need a weekly schedule to help me divide up the work throughout the week.  Or maybe I need to realize that some of these things just won't get done.  Either way I am overwhelmed today.

I know I need to take a breath and let it all go and focus on what needs to be done.  Baby 1st, Exquisite Blooms work 2nd and everything else lumped into 3rd.  Writing it out is making me feel better already.

Step 1...nap time for Eli
Step 2...ExB paperwork

A cute picture of my cutey to brighten my day and remind me that it is about him and everything else comes 2nd.

5 months

He is growing so fast!  Here are a few shots of our 5 month old...

He loves sitting up and viewing the world from a non-laying position, he is getting more excited about looking at books and playing with toys, oh and he loves to be outside.

A little bit of Sunshine

My latest and greatest (completed) Pinterest inspired project is lamp re-vamps.  I was at a local thrift store this last weekend and found some gorgeous (but hideous) brass lamps for sale and knew they would be perfect painted yellow.  I snatched them up, brought them home and painted away.  Here is the process.

Here is what the lamp looked like before.
First, I took off the lamp shade (which I bought at Big Lots), then I wiped it down to remove dust.  Then I taped off the cord and top electrical part (the place where the light bulb goes) by putting both parts with plastic sandwich bags and then taping them shut and securing them with green Froggers tape.
Next I gave it a good coat of Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Ultra Cover spray primer.
I let it dry for about 30 minutes and then gave it 2 coats (letting it dry 20 minutes in between coats) of Rust-Oleum Gloss Protective Enamel in Sunburst Yellow.
I let it dry in the sun for about an hour before I brought it in and added the lamp shade back on it.  The result was this!

I did 2 so here is the other one.
Oh and in case you are wondering, here is a shot of the paint cans I used.
And now, a side by side.
I love them!  They bring a smile to my face every time I pass by, and they are a much needed solution to our lack of lighting in the living room.
