Cute prints

I was browsing Etsy today and found these prints...

(these are from the Etsy seller,  trafalgarssquare)
I think they are perfect for a baby boys nursery.  I love them!

I also found and love this one, plus these are the colors I want to use in Baby G's nursery.
(Etsy seller, AppleBlossomPrint)

Feeling baby boy inspired today :)  Currently working on an inspiration board that I hope to share soon.  We are also working on names, middle name has been decided (big story behind that one) but we haven't nailed down a 1st name yet.  I have a heavy contender but have to do some final discussing with Jeremiah.  Once we decide though that will be it I think, for the most part once I make up my mind on something, I start envisioning things that way and it sticks.  Lets see if its the same for our babys name.

It's a BOY!!!

We are very excited and can't wait to start picking out a name and planning our little guys nursery. For now I hope that you enjoy this clip of today's ultrasound, it is still so surreal to me to see a little life growing inside me kicking, flipping and punching but I can't feel it.  Soon I hope :)

Happy St. Patty's Day!!!

Nothing special going on here, we are going to my parents house for a corned beef and cabbage dinner later but nothing terribly exciting.  However, I did want to take something festive for desert but didnt feel like making anything but I had made some tasty lemon cupcakes last night that I didn't end up frosting because it got to late.  Soooo, I decided they were the perfect treat if I could make them green in some way to "St. Patty's Day" them up.  Food coloring to the rescue and Ta-Da!  St. Patty's Day lemon cupcakes.

(I apologize for the grainy Blackberry photos, Jeremiah has my camera at work)

In case you are in need of a scrumptious lemon cupcake recipe, who isn't, here it is...
(they are the most moist and lemon-y cake cupcakes you will ever taste and top it with my grandmothers delicious lemon frosting, DIVINE!)

Lemon Cupcakes
Cake:
-1 box lemon cake, add 1/2 cup sour cream and bake per box instructions
-when cupcakes come out of the oven, poke a few holes in the top with a wooden toothpick and drizzle some glaze on top so that it soaks in
-let cupcakes cool and then ice with frosting

Glaze:
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
4 heaping tablespoons powdered sugar
(mix together and then poke holes in cake/cupcakes and drizzle into holes)

Nana's Lemon Frosting Recipe:
1/3 cup soft (real) butter
3 cups sifted powdered sugar
3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 tbsp grated lemon rind
(mix all together)

** when adding glaze to cupcakes wash cupcake pans before next batch or the glaze will turn to candy in bottom of cup cake pan cups and stick to the next batch and then the cupcake will not come out of pan

Baby's Heartbeat...and maybe a little crazy

So I had my 2nd pre-natal appointment today and once again was brought to tears.  I got to hear the baby's heartbeat today, that little whoosh whoosh sound, and it was probably the most amazing thing I have ever heart.  To hear the life growing inside of you is just amazing!  I teared up and then the mid-wife teared up (which makes me so happy to have gone with the mid-wife program at UCSD, more on that in a different post) and I was awe struck.  It still is a little bit of an out of body experience since I still can't feel the little one but still so very amazing.  I am 13 weeks now so we only have to wait a mere 2 weeks before we can get an early ultrasound to determine whether we are having a little girl or a little boy.  I know of a place that will do it at 14 weeks but Jeremiah wants us to wait an extra week so that we can be even more sure that we will see results.

I am still not really showing, I still look like I just have a larger than usual pouch but my stomach is getting harder and apparently, according to the mid-wife I saw today, you can feel my uterus.  I am looking forward to showing but at the same time it makes me anxious, weird I know.  I am not sure what exactly I am anxious about, the attention it will bring or the realization that this is all so real.  Hmm, I'm really not sure.

So on to the crazy Sally...I was so excited to hear the baby's heart beat and Jeremiah was disappointed that he couldn't be there so...I bought a fetal doppler on eBay!!!  Am I totally crazy?!?!?!  I am blaming it on us being totally excited 1st time parents.  Plus I am telling myself that all my other friends that are getting pregnant soon can use it to hear their little ones too, right?  The things that are available to buy on the internet really make it dangerous for a person like me :)!

So, am I crazy?

What?!?!? Another post in 1 day!!!

I just couldn't wait to share this before and after shot of the entertainment console I got a month or so ago...
And After...
So there it is, let me know what you think!

Kitchen Paint is Done!

But first lets start (as always) with a before shot...
And now for a completely re-done (minus the floors) KITCHEN...
(I used Behr Premium Plus (Low VOC) semi-gloss paint, the color is Indulgent Mocha)
This little laundry area definitely needs some help but aside from buying the new front loaders and building a cabinet, I don't know how to help it out.  Table skirt?  Wicker baskets/bins?

As far as my little curtains go, I wanted to make something that matched for the areas that don't have cabinet doors.  Off to Target I went looking for something that would work and ended up buying the cutest shower curtain that I cut up and made into these three curtains.
I am contemplating getting 2 more to use as the curtains at the back door but I am thinking that it may be too much, what do you think?

For now I am pretty much done, kinda, I will be on the look out for some cute prints to place here and there on the walls but other than that and the flooring, I am DONE!!!

Well I still want to paint that wallpaper on the wall behind the stove but I am to nervous to move the stove and mess with the gas line.  Here is where it will go when I do it...

Ok, so maybe I'm NOT done but I am close :).

Remember the kitchen project...

that I started last May?  Well I am just now putting the final touches on it, practically a year later.  I re-did the counter tops and added a back splash with the help of my friend Jessica in June but nothing has really happened since then.  Wedding season came and I got so busy and just never had time to paint or finish things off.  Soooooo, bottom line is I am currently in the process of painting the kitchen walls a really pretty taupe color and I hope to add this design to the area behind the stove as a little accent.  Then all I need is new flooring in there and voila, I'll be done.  Well at least until I find something else to tweak or change.  I have been really reconsidering our washer/dryer situation, especially with a new baby and all.  We currently have an apartment style stack-able washer/dryer unit but the washer barrel is TINY, and I do mean TINY.
I am really longing to get some front loaders and build a cabinet/counter top around it.  Similar to this...
Yes, I would be going back to the problem I had before with the big machines in the middle of the kitchen but they would be concealed in a cabinet and it would create extra counter space, really a WIN WIN.  I could even buy mismatch machines on craigslist or on clearance from a discount store because they would be in the cabinet!  (I literally thought of that this instant, now I am even more excited to start looking for new machines)

Painted kitchen pics soon, probably next week since I have a wedding this weekend that I will start prepping for tomorrow so I won't finish the paint job till Sunday afternoon.

P.S.  can you tell I am getting my energy back?!?!?!

So how am I feeling?

That seems to be the question everyone is asking me.  Short answer:  tired but good.  Long answer:  I get tired in the evenings, I have waves of nausia in the afternoons and if I eat something to acidic, dairy based, or citric then I have terrible heartburn and an upset stomach but overall I am feeling good.  Honestly I don't feel that bad and I am happy for the icky-ness that I am feeling because that means that things are going good and that makes me feel happy.

Mentally...I am anxious, excited, happy, giddy, a little nervous but overall just so happy to be pregnant and growing a little life inside of me.  When Jeremiah and I went to get the sonogram I told him that it was kind of like an out of body experience because one minute I was looking at this screen with this little baby moving around and its heart was beating but it was just like I was watching a movie or something.  Then all of a sudden it clicked, I realized that the little baby on the screen was mine and was INSIDE me!  It was all at once, exciting, scary and then tear jerking.  I was so anxious just to get to the sonogram to make sure that everything was okay this time that I never stopped to realize that I was about to see our very own child full of life and kicking up a storm.  I was so amazed to see the amount of movement so early and it was weird to see something moving inside of you but not being able to feel it; it was truly surreal.  Now all I want to do is get more sonograms to see our little baby again!

Jeremiah...the is just becoming more and more adorable everyday.  He wants to say hi to my belly (that isn't even big yet) in the mornings and he bugs me everyday about drinking my milk (eww) and taking my vitamins.  I know that he will be an amazing father and I can't wait to see him hold our baby for the 1st time.

I am already designing nurseries and choosing names but I think I'll probably wait till we find out the sex before I start getting to crazy with vision boards and name combos.  For now, I am just napping to battle the exhaustion and waiting patiently to see our little one once again.

:)
